Waramadong looking for second finals berth at expense of Covent Garden

—St George’s, Wismar/Christianburg meet in second semi

The semifinals of the Digicel National Secondary Schools Football Tournament are set to take place today at the Beterverwagting (BV) and Uitvlugt Community grounds respectively from 16:00hrs.

At the BV ground, East Coast Demerara, uncertainty and unpredictability meets organization and power as Georgetown winners St. George’s Secondary lock horns with defending national champions and Region 10 winners Wismar/ Christianburg Secondary.

Led by the trio of Azuma Small, Quincy Lawrence and Royston Dublin, St. George’s will look to continue their dogged displays as they aim to upset the heavily favoured Linden unit marshaled by Travin Dryden, Jashawn Moore, and Shane Luckie.

Over at the Uitvlugt ground, West Demerara perennial heavyweights and Region Seven winners Waramadong Secondary will oppose Region Four representatives Covent Garden Secondary in a keenly expected matchup.

Schooled in the art of total control football, Waramadong will look for a collective display as they aim to book their second consecutive finals berth come kick off time.

Standing in their way however, will be a very dangerous East Bank side led in principal by their triumvirate of Travin Gaskin, Kevin Agard and Roddick McKenzie when the opening whistle sounds.
