the West Demerara giants will look to continue their good showing as they aim for their second finals berth in as many tournaments.

In an invited pre match comment coach Charles ‘Lilly’ Pollard said, “I expect a tough game. It’s a semi-final and we have to be cautious because any one mistake could cost you. It’s a good bunch of guys with great desire for the game and its manifesting on the field. They are buying into my philosophy.”

Uninspiring in their 4-3 penalty shoot-out quarterfinal victory against Pele FC, the West Ruimveldt side will require an improved showing if they are to progress to the finals.

Western Tigers coach Calvin ‘Flu man’ Allen told Stabroek Sport, “Our players are up for it and well prepared.

We will give a good account of ourselves and we can match them in every department. Basically, the team that makes the fewer mistakes and executes their game plan better will come out victorious.”

In the earlier matchup at 6.30pm, the Georgetown women will lock horns with their Berbician counterparts in the second semi-final of the women’s section.

Launched under the Stag brand, the tournament which started on Saturday August 10 will feature 16 men’s teams and six women’s teams competing within a grand simultaneous tourney.

The winners of the men’s segment of the event will receive $2,000,000 and a trophy while second, third and fourth place finishers will earn $1,000,000, $500,000 and $300,000 and trophies respectively.
