Defending champs Marian Academy upset by East La Penitence

East La Penitence edged defending champions Marian Academy 2-1 when the Petra Organization/Courts Guyana Incorporated in collaboration with Banks DIH Limited Pee Wee U11 football tourney commenced at the Thirst Park ground yesterday.

Leon Yaw opened the scoring for winners in the 17th minute through a right footed effort from just inside the penalty area. The Carifesta Avenue side would answer back three minutes later as Dominic Roberts lashed home a powerful right footed volley strike to the top left hand corner.

The upset, however would be  completed in the 27th minute as Yaw found the back of the net with a flat right footed effort.

Tucville Primary hammered Winfer Gardens Primary 4-0 through doubles from DeAndre Linton and Royheam Marques.

Marques opened the scoring for the victors in the second minute with a right footed strike to the bottom right hand corner from the left side of the penalty area. Linton added his name to the scorer’s sheet in the seventh minute from the penalty spot following a hand ball infringement in the area.

Linton completed his brace in the 13th minute through a flat right footed strike to the bottom right hand corner of the goal after receiving a through pass from Marques.
Marques completed the score line in the 18th minute with a easy finish inside the six yard area after collecting a thrown on from the left side of the field. In other results, St. Margaret’s hammered Green Acres 5-0 through a hat trick from Josiah King in the 12th, 20th and 30th minutes respectively. Completing the rout were Andrew Harrison and Diego Briton in the 10th and 25th minutes correspondingly.  F.E. Pollard Primary defeated Success primary 2-0 compliments of a Cordell Charles double in the 11th and 25th minutes respectively while St. Stephens edged St. Gabriel 1-0 through a Wesley Thompson 27th minute conversion.

South Ruimveldt mauled West Field Primary 7-0 as Christopher Bovell found the back of the net five times in the 12th, 20th, 25th, 27th and 29th minutes. He was assisted by Therese James and Alex Charles in the 16th and 26th minutes respectively.

Ketley Primary edged St. Angela’s Primary 2-1 through goals from Ryan Fredericks and Ezekiel Benjamin in the 24th and 27th minutes respectively. Ashanti Browne, the lone female scorer of the day netted for the losers in the 22nd minute.

Jeffrey Blair netted a double in the 25th and 28th minutes as Enterprise Primary trounced St. Ambrose 5-0. Ryan Fraser, Antonio Canterbury and Garfield Dover scored for the victors in the sixth, 21st and 26th minutes correspondingly.

West Ruimveldt edged Stella Maris 3-2 through goals from Akil Plass, Rayon Jones and Leandre Gilbert in the 12th, 14th and 20th minutes respectively. Darron Niles led the losing side with a brace in the 34th and 35th minutes.

North Georgetown crushed J.E. Burnham 3-0. Tyrese Prescod and Orin Williams found the back of the net in the seventh and 36th minutes respectively for the Woolford Avenue side while an own goal in the 10th minute completed the result.

In the final fixture of the day, St. Puis led by a Beveney Mark hat trick in the 19th, 20th and 31st minutes thumped St. Sidwells by a 4-0 margin. Marcus Wilson opened the scoring for the winners in the second minute.

Prior to the commencement of event, a march past featuring all the schools was witnessed by the large gathering. Marketing Manager of Courts Pernell Cummings opened the event with the ceremonial opening kick.
