West Ruimveldt edge St Gabriel’s 2-1

West Ruimveldt edged St. Gabriel’s 2-1 in a quarterfinal fixture  of the Petra Organization/Courts Guyana in collaboration with Banks DIH Limited Pee Wee U11 football tourney at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue yesterday.

In a fixture that was highlighted by the vociferous shouting of the respective fandom, Raymond Bandhu opened the scoring for the Queenstown side with a third minute strike to the bottom of the net after collecting a left sided cross from a freekick.

Michael Oie would level the score four minutes later, powering home his right sided strike to the right side of the goal after receiving a pass from the left side of the wing.

West Ruimveldt would seal their passage to the semi-final round as Oie completed his brace, powering home his right footed shot from just inside the left side of the box.

In other quarterfinal results, Tucville Primary thumped Enterprise Primary 5-2 compliments of a DeAndre Linton hat trick in the 15th, 27th and 39th minutes while Colwin Best added for the winners in the 30th minute. An own goal in the 38th minute sealed the win.

Netting for the losers were Antonio Canterbury in the 34th and 40th minutes. East La Penitence edged St. Margaret’s 1-0 through a Leroy Yaw strike in the fifth minute.

A hat trick by Bevney Marks in the third, seventh and 26th minutes propelled St. Puis Primary to a 4-2 defeat of F.E. Pollard. Kamacy Davis scored for the winners in the 39th minute while Jamal Wayne bagged a brace in the 10th and 19th minutes respective in a losing effort.

West Ruimveldt will now face off with Tucville Primary in the semi-final round while St. Puis will tackle East La Penitence.

In the battle of the 9-16 positions, Marian Academy defeated Ketley Primary 2-0 through goals from Alastair Phyll and Ricardo Percival in the fifth and 25th minutes respectively while South Ruimveldt edged Redeemer Primary 1-0 compliments of a Tierece James 23rd minute strike. St. Stephen’s edged J.E. Burnham 2-1 through a Joshua Lindie double in the 14th and 15th minutes while North Georgetown, led by a Tyriq Saunders double in the fourth and 36th minutes hammered St. Ambrose 5-0.

Further goals from Joshua Denny, Gregory O’Neil and Tyrese Prescod in the 10th, 26th and 28th minutes correspondingly completed the win.
