Volleyball association donates gear to two Skeldon groups

The Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) presented several pieces of volleyball gear to two Skeldon volleyball groups as part of its ongoing efforts to develop the sport.

In the first presentation, BVA Secretary Levi Nedd presented a gift of two volleyballs and a net, to Linden Murray, a representative of the Skeldon Back Centre. Nedd also made a second presentation comprising a volleyball and net, to the Skeldon Jets Volleyball team captain Akbar Husain.

According to a press release, BVA President Gregory Rambarran told the gathering that volleyball in Berbice and in Guyana originated in Skeldon. He then urged Murray to use the equipment to revive the sport in the Upper Corentyne area. Rambarran also said that the BVA is there to give support and challenged the centre to form teams that can participate at a high level.

In response, Murray thanked the BVA for the gesture and committed to promoting the sport in the area.
