The DDL Sales Manager added “As sponsor of these events we are pleased with the way in which these tournaments are being executed and we continue to be amazed at the level of professionalism shown by the boxers”.

Langhorne also wished the tournament success and encouraged fans to support the young talent. Ninvalle thanked Langhorne on behalf of DDL for supporting the tournament once again and urged the public to patronize the event tomorrow and Sunday.

The GBA head also disclosed that the other tournament in mid December will be staged most likely in the Ancient County.

Technical Director of the GBA, Terrence Poole, opined that the three tournaments last year as well as July’s competition bore fruit since three of the under-16 competitors Stephan Green, Travis Fraser and Joel Williamson all medalled at the South American Youth Games in Peru in September.

Poole also revealed that in excess of 40 amateur pugilists will compete for medals in the two-day DDL under-16 competition which is scheduled to commence from 10:00hrs.

He added that he expects to see Simon Pures from Young Achievers, Carryl Boxing Gym, Essequibo Boxing Gym, Harpy Eagles, Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF), Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Rose Hall Jammers and the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym as well as boxers from Bartica.
