Guinness Greatest of the Streets

Queen Street-Tiger Bay defeated Albouystown-A 2-0 in a group-H grudge match when action in the Guinness Greatest of the Streets Georgetown Zone continued on Thursday at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac on Hadfield Street and Mandela Avenue.

Andrew Murray Jr. almost opened the scoring for Albouystown-A in the 5th minute with a right-footed strike that went narrowly over the top bar from the left side of the field, after being played through by a Solomon Austin left-sided pass.

Continuing to get the better of the exchanges in what escalated into a physical affair, Albouystown almost took the lead again in the 13th minute as a low drive by Devon Dooker from the left side fizzed just wide of sneaking into the right post.

Forced to defend for most of the encounter, Queen Street would take the shock lead in the 23rd minute as Deon Alfred slotted home his right-footed effort down the middle of the goal after collecting a pass from the right flank.

Desperate to find the equaliser with the seconds ticking away, Albouystown would rue the missed opportunities in the opening stanza as Queen Street struck the final nail in the proverbial coffin with a 30th minute Leon Fredericks strike from the right side.

A marauding solo run on the right flank by Hubert Pedro would lead to the opening goal for West Front Road in the 13th minute as his right-sided cross was finished with aplomb by Michael Oie down the middle of the goal.

It would soon be 2-0 as Michael Pedro slotted home from just outside the goal in the 14th minute. However Cross Street would reduce the deficit to one in the 25th minute of the second half as Sherwin Dover netted with a simple finish down the middle of the framework.

Shalomo Hunte would then level the score line two minutes later with a well-placed strike from seven yards away down the middle of the goal.

The fixture however would take a further twist as Randolph Wagner scored the eventual winner one minute later for West Front Road, calmly slotting home from just outside the left post after latching onto a rebounded strike from the right side.
