Meusa beats Khan in 2013 national senior chess tourney

Former national chess champion Wendell Meusa beat defending champion Taffin Khan when the Vita-Malt Plus 2013 National Senior Chess Championships continued at the Ocean Spray Hotel on Sunday.  In an encounter that lasted more than three hours, Meusa prevailed over Khan to sit atop of the point standings after three rounds with a maximum of three points.  With the loss, Khan’s attempt at a fourth consecutive title defence took a major blow as he is currently tied for the third position with Anthony Drayton on one and a half points. Khan in his earlier match-up with the former junior champion Drayton was held to a draw. Sitting currently in the second position are Glenford Corlette and Errol Tiwari with two points apiece while Roberto Neto and Davion Mars are tied for the fourth position with one point each. Currently in the cellar position with no points is Rashad Hussain. Hussain entered the competition following the withdrawal of senior player Neil Khan from the event.
