Torginol sponsors horse racing again

Torginol Paints Inc’s 20 plus years of sponsorship of the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) Boxing Day meet continued yesterday.

During a simple ceremony, Assistant Public Relations Officer of the company, Sharon Blackman, handed over a sponsorship cheque for $282,000 which covers the prize money for the first race to president of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority, Cecil Kennard at his office on Brickdam.

Kennard thanked the company “which has been supporting us for over 25 years in the Boxing Day fixture” and mentioned that there is no sport that can thrive without the help of corporate support.

Blackman assured Kennard that the entity’s sponsorship will continue for future events.

Torginol Paints Inc. Company Secretary, Percy Boyce Jr. was also in attendance. Entries for the meet which will run off at the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice close on Sunday.

The annual Boxing Day event has been one of the country’s traditions over the years and this year’s meet is being deemed the ‘biggest’ in recent years.

In excess of $9m in stakes and prizes will be up for grabs on the eight-race card.
