Annandale Secondary, St George’s High advance in K&S

Annandale Secondary and St. George’s High School booked quarterfinal spots in the Chico/Kashif & Shanghai Elite Next Generation Football Tournament following 5-2 and 4-1 wins over Queen’s College and East Ruimveldt yesterday.

come up trumps after rampant strikers Kristoff Stoll  (56th and 73rd minutes) and Dimitri Grant (77th, 87th and 90th) netted a brace and a hat trick respectively.

 

Kabian Daly’s 13th minute strike gave Queen’s College the early advantage while an own goal in the 60th minute padded the scoreline. After half time however things went awry and the city-based team defence crumbled and were swamped with five goals.

Adolph George (28th), Robby McDoggan (31st) Jermaine Scott (39th) and Neil Cameron one minute before halftime were the goal scorers for the St. George’s outfit. Captain Romel Legall netted the consolation goal for East Ruimveldt one minute after the break.

In their quarterfinal fixture on Boxing Day, Annandale will face the winner of the Christmas Day match involving Ash Education and President’s College while St. George’s will lock horns with the winner of Sunday’s matchup involving MacKenzie High and Leonora Secondary on December 28.

The under-17 tournament for secondary institutions continues tomorrow at the same venue at 16:00hrs once the weather permits.

Dolphin Secondary will tackle Charlestown Secondary, while North Georgetown will take on Waramadong two hours later once the weather permits.

Up to the semifinals, all school aged children will be admitted free to each game.

The winner of the tournament will pocket a record $1.2M in cash of which 75% will go towards a project identified by the school.

They will also receive a trophy and 25 replicas along with the prize money.

The institutions placing second, third and fourth will each receive prize monies amounting to $750,000, $500,000 and $250,000, in cash respectively.

The second and third place teams will receive trophies and 25 silver and bronze medals respectively, while the fourth place team will receive a trophy.

As customary, the grand finale will be staged on January 1 at the Providence National Stadium.
