Miss Linden Town Week is back!

After a hiatus, Sheriff Entertainment brings back the Miss Linden Town Week Pageant which will be held on Saturday, May 4 at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, Linden.

Under the theme ‘The Rising’, nine contestants from across the town’s boroughs will compete for the title in four segments: Intelligence, Talent, Swimsuit and Evening Gown.

The queen will win a Jailing Motorcycle and gold earrings, the first runner-up will receive a trip to a Caribbean island and a cash prize; the second runner-up gift is a Gateway Laptop and a gift set.
Consolation prizes include a trip to Kaieteur Falls for Miss Congeniality, a digital camera for Miss Best Smile, Cash and trophy for Miss Best Gown, Cash and a gift set for Miss Best Body, an HP Netbook and gift set for Miss Intelligence and a mobile phone for Miss Most Improved.

All contestants will receive certifcates and flowers.

Here’s a look at the contestants:

Beautiful, intelligent, ambitious are all words to describe Nickita Mc Farlene, representing the first and oldest community in Linden, Silvertown. This 19-year-old beauty enjoys singing, dancing, modelling, travelling and composing songs and poems. She one day hopes to become a lawyer.

This 15-year-old is representing Watooka. Her hobbies include reading books and reciting dramatic poetry, socialising and pageantry. Her favourite foods are fried rice and cook up. She says has an extraordinary personality that will be sure to take her all the way in this pageant. Her ambition is to become a dentist.

Latesha Phillips, 18, is currently an office manager who aspires to be a journalist and talk show host. She is representing Blueberry Hill and hopes that Lindeners would one day build themselves up to be an ever better, productive people in a town that’s she describes to be the most beautiful in Guyana.

Twenty-four years old, proud and beautiful, Nicola Rodney’s hobbies include reading, dancing and doing community and social work. She hopes that one day she can become a trained teacher. She represents Block 22, Linden.

Representing Retrieve is 18-year-old Wrenea Sydney. When asked to describe herself, she said she is six feet tall with chocolate brown complexion and ‘Asian’ eyes which compliment her pretty shaped face. Outspoken, adventurous and with a burning desire to make a difference in her Linden community – these are the attributes she wishes to use in the pageant. She is working towards being a teacher, since, as she said, “Being a teacher is like being a mother, it gives you the chance to share experiences while educating… Children are tomorrow’s leaders.”

Standing at 5 feet 4 inches is 18-year-old Shevane Charles who is representing Amelia’s Ward. She possesses a caring and somewhat charismatic personality which she uses to charm the people around her. Singing, dancing and socialising with friends and families are her enjoyments in life. She wishes to be a paediatrician one day since she loves children and wants the best for them. Her life’s motto is ‘Not all relationships are fairy tales, so be realistic, be educated and wise up.’

Peaceful yet powerful, attractive and sassy is Shanti Paul. She is 17 years old and representing Coomacka. She is currently a fifth form student at the Linden School of Excellence who is aspiring to become a psychiatrist. In her leisure time she enjoys modelling, reading and interacting with people.

Kimberly Elexey brings the electricity into this pageant. Eighteen is the age to be outgoing, outrageous and sexy and this is exactly what describes this representative of Kara Kara who enjoys listening to music, reading and socialising with others. She is an aspiring doctor who believes that being able to face your fears is sometimes all it takes to be the best.

With a passion for tourism and modelling, this 24-year-old represents Central Mackenzie which she describes to be the ‘Crown Jewel’ of Linden. She is currently a second-year student at the University of Guyana who aspires to be a flight attendant who owns her own business. Her only aim in this pageant is to take home the crown with wonderful memories doing so.
