Sandwich shops

Done in the month of March, this was a short mission since there are only two prominent sandwich shops in Guyana: Quiznos and Subs and Salads.

Sandwiches are very different from burgers, well… not really, it’s like a long drawn out, hot dog version of a burger but still, different!

Quiznos

When I walked into Quiznos to do this review I had a huge grin because I was thinking of the experience my editor once told me about, I was preparing for the similar experience and even prepared to be a little feisty, unfortunately for me that day, I had nothing to be angry at. The cashier smiled, took my order and even started a little conversation on my fedora hat, nice people really – when it comes to business that is.

Quiznos is still relatively new to the market and hasn’t gone widespread yet but can! I mean, the sandwich is awesome!

Sharing a restaurant space with Mario’s Pizza is a bad idea though, the smell intermingles and sometimes you just don’t welcome that, other than that it has a beautiful, friendly and warm feeling.

Subs and Salads (Sheriff Street)

Short reviews today, huh?

I can tell you this, the first time I had a turkey sandwich from Subs and Salad, I kept going back for more almost every week for the entire month. Well, Sheriff Street was out of my way so I went to their Regent Street hub afterwards, But regardless, it was really good. The definite love I have for sandwich shops is the ability to choose your ingredients, and believe me sometimes this can be a confusing process and the manner in which the server reacts is very important. I hadn’t any problems with these two restaurants in ordering.

Subs on Sheriff Street is the first restaurant where I could eat on the ‘sidewalk’ and it was a pleasant experience with the Atlantic winds cooling the March sun down. It wasn’t dirty and if you learn to ignore the intervals of traffic travelling along the carriageway then this should be an exciting experience.
