Sonia Noel closes hectic 2013 with sale of fashion

Sonia Noel closes off a hectic 2013, which included Carifesta, Guyana Fashion Week and the Fashion Market along with trips to Suriname and St Lucia, with discounts on her collections at her Barr Street, Kitty location.

According to a press release, in Suriname, Sonia and Nelsion Nurse were able to partner in a ‘Pop-up-Shop’ set up by GFW’s guest Surinamese designers – Warda Marica and Remko Sintmaartensdijk. According to Sonia, the event proved lucrative for the designers involved.

In St Lucia, the event was ‘Strut for a Cause’ to raise funds for the Sickle Cell Association and heighten awareness of the disease. The event was held at the Sandals Grande, St Lucia and the models were drawn from the Bankers Association of St Lucia, the release said.

Sonia showcased her ‘First Resort’ collection and Mariska’s brand, opening and closing the show. Other Caribbean designers featured were Shazi Chalon of Martinique, St Lucian designers Nella Collymore, Sarleen Lagon, Noir et Blanc and fashion house, Sea Island Cotton, the release added.

The next day Sonia’s pieces were on show at a brunch at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort after which she was on the panel of Richard Young’s St Lucia casting for Caribbean’s Next Top Model.

Meanwhile, First Resort and Mariska’s Designs will also be featured this weekend in Suriname at De Kus, an event that will also showcase creative and original furniture, jewellery, handbags and paintings, the release said.
