Joint team finds 48 children not in school in `E’ Field South Sophia

On February 28, the Education Ministry’s Schools Welfare Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security and the Guyana Police Force visited ‘E’ Field, South Sophia investigating the absence of school-aged children from school.

Within a few hours and thorough walk of the ‘E’ Field Sophia area, a release from the Ministry of Education said that the joint teams found forty-eight children who were not in school. During visits to the homes of some of the children, parents and guardians were told about their responsibility to ensure that their children receive an education.
