The island communities of Leguan and Wakenaam, in the Essequibo River are now experiencing a 24- hour power supply as a result of the upgrades done by the Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Company. The historic transition was formally acknowledged today, when President Donald Ramotar declared operational, the rehabilitated power station serving the island.
