Jamaica police raid Accountant General Office

(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica — A joint police operation involving members of the Revenue Protection Divi-sion (RPD) and The Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) was underway yesterday at the Account-ant General’s office downtown Kingston.

Several boxes of documents were removed from the building and a worker was handcuffed.

Workers are also reportedly being prevented from leaving the building.

MOCA says that the operation surrounds irregularities and fraudulent activities totalling several million dollars, which were uncovered through the Finance Ministry’s continued modernisation efforts and adherence to strict protocols laid down by the Central Treasury Management System (CTMS) and the Principles of Public Financial Management.

Five people have so far been detained.
