Jamaica AG begs forgiveness again for his flexi rape ‘joke’

(Jamaica Observer) KINGSTON, Jamaica: Senator A.J. Nicholson this morning appealed to the Upper House to forgive him for his unfortunate ‘flexi rape’ comment last month.

The comment was made during a contribution by Opposition Senator Marlene Malahoo Forte, last month to the flexi-work law.

Nicholson later called the comment “a little joke” which further incensed members of the Senate and members of the public.

Speaking earlier in the Senate, Nicholson said he is aware that his previous three paragraph apology lacked sincerity and was inadequate.

Nicholson says although he intended no disrespect he was terribly wrong and displayed lamentable insensitivity.

He says he intends to demonstrate the extent of his remorse by participating in activities to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women next Tuesday November 25.

The Foreign Affairs Minister also apologised to Senator Malahoo Forte, adding that despite his clumsy attempt at humor, he meant no affront to her or anyone else.
