Woman stabbed to death by intruders

- male companion survives attack  

(Trinidad Express) In-truders broke into the home of a couple at Chase Village, Chaguanas on Sunday night, stabbing to death the woman and wounding the man.

Alisha Ali, 28, and Riad Mohammed, 36, were at their home at Gurahoo Trace, Ozone Park, when at around 8.25 pm the doorbell rang.

According to police, Mohammed answered the door and two men, both with firearms, stormed in.

The thieves forced the couple into the kitchen and tied them up, then demanded money and jewellery. One of the thieves held the couple at gunpoint while the other searched the house, and took $60,000 from a room.

They also took money from Mohammed’s pocket, a gold chain from around his neck and two cell phones, valued a total of $9,000.

Police said they were told the thieves said the victims saw their faces and stabbed both Mohammed and Ali, before leaving.

Mohammed freed himself went to this vehicle where he got a cell phone and called the police, who responded and found Ali motionless with multiple stab wounds to her neck.

Mohammed was taken to the Couva District Hospital where he was treated and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.

Ali was an employee of Trinity Oil, and her husband is a supermarket manager.
