A man who was entrusted with selling one iPhone 4S and instead allegedly converted the funds to his own use was yesterday taken before the Georgetown Magis-trates’ Court to face the charge of fraudulent conversion.

Twenty-three-year-old Samuel Springer pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that between May 1, 2012 and May 31, 2012, being entrusted with a white iPhone 4S valued $160,000 to sell and return the funds to its original owner, he fraudulently converted the funds to his own use.

Springer, an IT technician had reportedly offered to repay the virtual complainant (VC) Alvin George. However, George stated that he has not done so and it was nearing 2 years.

Prosecutor Vishnu Hunte objected to bail, stating the prevalence of the offence as his reason. He also stated that the defendant had breached the trust of the VC.
