111 suicides last year – police

The police today issued the following statement.

“Cognisant of a publication in the Guyana Times of today Thursday January 16, 2014, under the caption “Suicide claimed 82 lives on Essequibo Coast in 2013”, in which it was stated that the statistics were in keeping with records at the Suddie Hospital, the Guyana Police Force wishes to state that the police records reveal that for 2013 there was a total of 111 suicides countrywide, with 9 occurring in Essequibo.

“The figures in the other Police Divisions were “A” Division 20, “B” Division 36, “C” Division 20, “D” Division 12, “E” Division 1, “F” Division 13. “
