Man granted bail over abusive language charge

A 52-year-old man was yesterday placed on $10,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Charity Magistrate’s Court charged with using abusive language.

It is alleged that on January 6 at Charity Water Front, Cyril Stoll used abusive language to the annoyance of Collin Stoll, his nephew.  According to the facts, Cyril and another man were consuming alcohol when an argument ensued between the two. Collin Stoll intervened and the defendant proceeded to use indecent language to the VC.

The defendant was represented by Hemraj Rajkumar, who asked the court to grant his client reasonable bail until trial commences. There was no objection to bail by Prosecutor Krishnadatt Ramana, and bail was set in the sum of $10,000. The matter was adjourned until January 27.
