Bartica man missing after Mazaruni boat mishap

 

A Bartica man is missing after he fell into the Mazaruni River at an area called Itakie Falls on Sunday.

According to a press release yesterday from the Maritime Administration (Marad), Ryan Brown, 34, of Bartica, Essequibo River was attempting to secure a boat to a nearby rock when he slipped into the water and went under.

According to the information, Marad said, boat was proceeding up-river to Seamang with cargo when the incident occurred around 10:00 hrs.

Marad is investigating and efforts are continuing to locate his body.
