Albouystown man gets 12 months for simple larceny

An Albouystown resident was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment yesterday after pleading guilty to simple larceny.

Christopher Gomes, 41, of 31 James Street, Albouystown, admitted to stealing $147,800 worth of items between December 28, 2013 and January 30, 2014 when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

According to Prosecutor Michael Grant, the items were six centre tables, five dining chairs, a night stand, a heavy duty electric cord and two crescents, which were the property of Sahvam Khan.

Grant indicated that the facts were as charged. Gomes, after pleading guilty, said that he had been cooperative with the police. He was subsequently sentenced.
