Autopsies to be performed today on fishermen found in net

A post-mortem examination is expected to be performed today on the bodies of the two fishermen who were discovered dead in a seine at De Kinderen, West Coast Demerara on Monday, two days after going missing.

Sahadeo Bhagwandat’s wife, Rajkumarie, said that her family was awaiting the results of the autopsy so they can perform his funeral rites. She said that the family plans to cremate the man’s body on Thursday.

Bhagwandat, 47, of Lot 8 Railway View, Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara and Ramdeo Sijogie, 46, of Lot 188 West Meten-Meer-Zorg, bodies were entangled in a net around 7:30 am.

Bhagwandat’s wife had said that he left home on Saturday morning drunk with Sijogie to    check their nets at a canal in De Kinderen.
