Delivery man shot in La Penitence hold-up

A Sunfoods delivery man was yesterday shot in his side after dropping off stocks at a shop at Independence Boulevard, La Penitence.

Krishna Nanoo, known as Dinks, 31, of Lot 27 Grove Housing Scheme East Bank Demerara, was shot in the right side of his abdomen after being robbed by two armed gunmen around 3pm.

Nanoo was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital in a taxi by the owner of the shop. Baig (the only name given) said that he was in the lower flat of his house when his nephew’s wife screamed out at him that someone was getting robbed over the fence. He said he ran out of his yard when he heard a shot fired and saw Nanoo lying on the ground bleeding, while the bandits were running away.

“I was going to feed my dog when she holler and said look someone getting rob,” he said.

Baig said that he called a taxi and carried Nanoo to the hospital because the driver of the truck that Nanoo was working on was too traumatised to drive.

Nanoo was receiving treatment yesterday afternoon in the Emergency Unit of the hospital. He was in a stable condition.
