Shot delivery man undergoes surgery

Krishna Nanoo, the Sunfoods delivery man who was shot while dropping off stocks at Independence Boulevard, La Penitence on Tuesday, is now in intensive care after undergoing surgery.

Nanoo, known as ‘Dinks,’ 31, of Lot 27 Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was shot in the right side of his abdomen after being robbed by two armed gunmen around 3pm.

Relatives were barred from seeing him after his surgery at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

“They told us to hold on… that they have to talk to us,” Nanoo’s brother Mark Nanoo said, adding that his brother’s wife and children were fearful and in tears since hearing the news.

Nanoo was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital in a taxi by the owner of the shop.

Baig (the only name given) said that he was in the lower flat of his house when his nephew’s wife screamed out at him that someone was getting robbed over the fence.

He said he ran out of his yard when he heard a shot fired and saw Nanoo lying on the ground bleeding, while the bandits were running away.

“…She holler and said look someone getting rob,” he said.

Baig related that he called a taxi and carried Nanoo to the hospital because the driver of the truck that Nanoo was working on was too traumatised to drive.
