Monday set for autopsy on pastor’s son killed in crash

A post-mortem examination is to be performed on Monday on the body of Clifflon Orande Marks, the 22-year-old pastor’s son who died Thursday afternoon following a crash at Foothill, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

This is according to his sister Shelon Allicock who said that the dead man’s family was staying strong despite the unfortunate circumstances. “We’re very sad; very, very sad but we’re trusting in God and putting everything in His hands,” she said.“We’re God-fearing people so we’re just praying for our protection,” she added.

Marks, who hailed from Mahdia, was killed while travelling from the Full Gospel Assembly Bible School to a church crusade in Belle Vue, West Bank Demerara. The seven other passengers, ages ranging from 16 to 54, were injured.

Three of the vehicle’s occupants were transferred from the East Bank Demerara Regional Hospi-tal/Diamond Diagnostic Centre to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) for serious medical attention following the crash.

Up to yesterday afternoon, Akleema Simpson and Fabian Williams were still listed as critical, while Kishan Singh, the driver of the Tapir vehicle, was moved to the male surgical ward and is in a stable condition.

Several of Singh’s family members who had travelled from Mahdia after receiving the news of the accident were present when this publication visited yesterday.

According to reports, Singh had been “having fun” on the roadway and had been previously involved in a minor accident.

Marks was in the front seat of the vehicle heading down the highway when it collided with a truck heading in the opposite direction minutes after 2 pm.

Marks, who had been studying to become a missionary since last September, is survived by five siblings and both of his parents. His funeral arrangements are currently in the care of his elder sisters.
