Dharmic Sabha’s Essequibo branch donates wheelchairs to bedridden

The Essequibo branch of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha yesterday donated several wheelchairs to bedridden residents along the Essequibo Coast.

The donation, which was held at the People’s Progressive Party Office, at Anna Regina, was deemed an act of charity by President of the Essequibo Sabha Kaydar Persaud, who said members of the organisation will continue to pledge their support

to those in need regardless of their religious background. The initiative was spearheaded by President of Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, Dr. Vindhya Persaud.

Saywack Lall, the first President of the Essequibo Sabha, was present at the ceremony and he said he was relieved that disabled persons can now move around with ease because of the wheelchairs. He encouraged the recipients to keep the wheelchairs in good condition so if that they may be reused if need be.

Mohadai Persaud, Dhanpat Sasenary and Selochanie Beharry were among the recipients of the chairs. In addition, wheelchairs were also handed over to representatives of sick persons.
