Body of kidnapped car dealer found

Police officials have confirmed that the body of kidnapped car dealer Rajendra Singh was found in Le Repentir Cemetery this morning.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that a City Council worker stumbled on the body around 9.30 am in the section of the burial ground which is close to the old dump site. The police were subsequently informed.

From all indications he sustained a single gunshot wound to the head. There was also a laceration to his throat.

Relatives later turned up and made a positive identification.

The man, according to reports, was snatched from in front of his Foulis, Enmore, East Coast Demerara home on Saturday night. His family was subsequently informed that they needed to pay $50 million for his release. The figure was later reduced to $25 million. No ransom was paid. More details later.
