US woman prevented from boarding flight after erratic behaviour

Police are investigating an incident at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri where an American woman became violent prior to boarding a Caribbean Airlines flight to Miami, USA yesterday morning and had to be physically restrained.

This newspaper understands that the woman was acting erratically and was incoherent when she was speaking to staff and a decision was made to detain her. The police were called and reportedly used force to restrain the woman.

Stabroek News understands that a family member was contacted on behalf of the woman. Police then released her into the family member’s custody.
