Sophia man shot in buttocks during robbery

A Sophia man was last evening shot in his friend’s yard after armed bandits stormed the residence.

Stabroek News understand that the wounded man, identified only as “Jesse,” was shot to his left side of his buttocks sometime after 9pm last night when he voiced his concern about how robbers were brutalising his friend.

The men were playing dominoes in the yard of the ‘A’ Field Sophia residence, when about six men drove up in a car, exited and began demanding the jewellery that Jesse’s friend was wearing.

About four of robbers began beating and stomping the man when his friend objected to the blows meted out to him.

One of the gunmen then shot Jesse in his buttocks after which they fired several gunshots and fled in their vehicle.

The police were called in and the family took the injured persons to the Georgetown Public Hospital for treatment.
