some of its international funding to plan, implement and execute various projects… aimed at addressing safety issues on our road network, including the safety and monitoring of our roadways.”

Accepting the motorcycles at the Stabroek Market Square, Commissioner of Police (ag) Seelall Persaud said that there is a great demand for the traffic police to be more reliable and that the bikes will go a long way in benefiting the country at a time when Guyana is attracting more international and regional meetings of prominent people that require police escorts.

Word from a rank who rode one of the cycles, Corporal Narine, was that he was very happy with the donation of the bikes.

The ministry reportedly paid $14.8 million for the motorcycles and their spare parts.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee, numerous senior ranks and junior ranks.

The scene attracted the attention of Guyanese who were going about their business at the square.
