The preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Abiola Jacobs, the former soldier who is accused of killing her ex-boyfriend’s mother, began yesterday.

Two witnesses Marcelle and Charles Collymore, Donna Taylor’s daughter and son-in-law, respectively, testified at yesterday’s hearing at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

A former Guyana Defence Force Private, Jacobs made her first appearance in court on February 5, charged with the January 31 murder of Taylor.

The 55-year-old Taylor was discovered in the backyard of her 1617 Public Road, Agricola home with her throat slit.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry is presiding over the inquiry, which continues today.
