Victim’s husband, son testify at inquiry into murder charge against ex-soldier

The husband and son of Donna Taylor, the woman who was allegedly murdered by ex-private Abiola Jacobs, testified yesterday when the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Jacobs.

Jacobs is accused of murdering Taylor, 55, on January 31, at Agricola.

Bertram Taylor Snr was the first of the two witnesses to enter the witness box and offer evidence before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who is presiding over the PI at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Bertram Taylor Jnr then climbed into the box and offered his evidence. As he spoke, Jacobs, who appear-ed stunned, clenched her fists and crossed her legs, while her eyes remained fixed on the younger Taylor, throughout the testimony, which lasted about 10 minutes.

Both witnesses were examined by Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru and cross-examined by Jacobs’ attorney, Adrian Thompson.

A former Guyana Defence Force Private, Jacobs made her first appearance in court on February 5, charged with the January 31 murder of Taylor.

Taylor was discovered in the backyard of her 1617 Public Road, Agricola home with her throat slit.

The PI continues today.
