Matthew Jack, who was stabbed several times about his body by a cousin on Friday night, has regained consciousness and is now in a stable condition at the Georgetown Hospital, his sister said.

Jack, 17, of 372 ‘A’ Field, Sophia, was stabbed several times about his body during an argument with his cousin, who he accused of stealing. The cousin was captured by police sometime after the altercation.

The wounded man’s sister, Onika Jack had told Stabroek News that Matthew had suffered injuries to the heart and also to his lungs.

Onika had stated that she noticed her stereo set, cosmetics and a new pair of sneakers were missing when she returned home on Friday night. She said her cousin was home alone but when she confronted him he denied it. She said Matthew then tried to speak to him but he was quickly enraged.

“When we tried talking to him, he get angry. Matthew and Rayon started to argue and Rayon push him against the wall and start stabbing him till he fall to the ground,” she said, noting that they quickly rushed him to the hospital.
