Miner dies after tree fall at Frenchman Backdam

At about 1600h. yesterday, police say that miner Dexter Dey, 28 years, of D’urban Street, Georgetown, was at Frenchman Backdam, Essequibo River, during a period of high winds,  when a tree fell and struck him to his body.

He suffered injuries and was taken to the Mackenzie Hospital where he was pronounced DOA.
