Cornelia Ida man shot by bandit

At about 2130h last night, police say that Mohamed Khan, 54 years, of Cornelia Ida, WCD, was on the roadway at Independence Street, La Grange, WBD, when he was confronted by a man armed with a handgun and who demanded his valuables.

Khan put up resistance and was shot to his left side. He was treated at the West Demerara Regional Hospital, police say.

The perpetrator escaped on a motor cycle.

Investigations are in progress.
