Youth accused of drug possession after cops make ganja find

A North Georgetown youth was yesterday remanded to prison after denying possession of a quantity of marijuana found at his home by police.

Majesty Paris, 20, pleaded not guilty to the charge that he had 45 grammes of marijuana in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

When the case was called before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court One, Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru said on the 9th of July, acting on information, the police paid a visit to the youth’s residence at 3720 North Georgetown.

In his presence, he said, they conducted a search of the house and uncovered the quantity of marijuana, at which point the youth was informed of the offence and admitted to having knowledge of the substance, the prosecutor said. He was then arrested.

Paris will return to court on July 14th before Magistrate Faith McGusty.
