Suspected congress shooter held at airport – Crime Chief

Crime Chief Leslie James has confirmed that Linden Primo was arrested at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri earlier today pending inquiries into an allegation that he discharged a firearm at Congress Place, Sophia on Sunday during the PNCR’s Congress.

James told this newspaper that the man at the time of his arrest was an outgoing passenger. It is unclear if the police have been able to ascertain if the man is a licensed firearm holder.

Asked why the man was arrested, James said that it was as a result of the incident at the Sophia location.

Primo was shown on Monday’s front page of the Stabroek News holding a gun at his side.

The firing of a shot at the congress has caused public consternation.
