Guyanese mother was stabbed over 40 times before being dismembered
– NY prosecutor tells bail hearing
Guyanese mother Chinelle Browne was stabbed 40 times in the chest before she was decapitated and dismembered, a New York State Prosecutor told a courtroom on Thursday.
According to a New York Daily News report, Browne’s landlady Leah Cuevas was ordered to remain in prison for the duration of her trial after being denied bail.
Her lawyer, Mary-Elizabeth Abbate, had entered a not guilty plea, insisting that the prosecution’s case was weak and that she should be allowed out on bail. She stated that there were no eye witnesses and no confession in case.
But the judge disagreed and remanded Cuevas to prison. She is due back in court September 18.
