Onderneeming man says beaten by police

The Police Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating an allegation that Deon Gherow, 47 years, of Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast, was assaulted by police ranks following his arrest at about 1700h. yesterday during investigations into a report of break and enter and larceny.

Gherow has alleged that he was assaulted by police ranks while on his way to the Anna Regina Police Station and also while at the Police Station.

He was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he has been admitted for medical treatment.
