Crane man remanded over unlicensed gun

-to face murder charge, court told

Junior Williams, 23, accused of having an unlicensed gun in his possession, was yesterday remanded to prison after a court was told he is to be charged soon with murder.

The allegation against Williams is that on July 30, at Georgetown, he had in his possession a .38 semiautomatic pistol without licence.

No further details were given when the charge was read at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Williams, a labourer of Second Street, Crane Housing Scheme, denied the charge after it was read to him.

When asked if the accused had any previous brushes with the law known to the police, Prosecutor Deniro Jones said that a murder is being investigated for which he is supposed to be charged shortly.

Williams, who was unrepresented by counsel, was then informed by Magistrate Ann McLennan that he would be remanded to prison.

His matter will be called again on August 7.
