Inquiry starts in case of Kaneville man accused of murdering brother

The Preliminary Inquiry to decide the fate of Rohan Teekaram, who is accused of murdering his brother at their Kaneville, East Bank Demerara home in April, commenced yesterday and saw seven persons, including the son of the deceased, offer evidence.

It is alleged that Rohan, 42, between April 20th and April 22nd murdered Jairam Teekaram, 40, at Kaneville, East Bank Dem-erara.

Mohammed Afeez, Wellington Da Silva Costa, Glen Baptiste, Kamar Gopal and Hemwattie Latchman, neighbours of the accused and the deceased, took to the witness stand. Also offering testimonies were the son of Jairam, Natram Teekaram, and another relative, Jashoda Teekaram.

Six more witnesses are still to testify.

The preliminary inquiry continues today.
