Two in hospital after Port Kaituma crash

Two persons were hospitalized and several others were injured when a minibus and a car collided at Port Kaituma, Region One yesterday morning.

Stabroek News understands that one man who was in the bus sustained a broken leg while the car driver, only identified as Dave, is being treated for trauma to the chest and lacerations to the body. The bus conductor, Ishwar (only name given) is also hospitalized and is in a stable condition. Other passengers were treated for lacerations and bruises.

The injured passengers were taken to the Port Kaituma hospital where they were treated and hospitalized.

According to a resident, the minibus driver was not the holder of a valid driver’s licence and was using the wrong lane to avoid potholes when he hit the car which was coming onward in the same lane.

The resident said police in the village visited the scene and were investigating the accident.
