Bus driver hospitalised after hitting pregnant cow

The driver of a Route 44 minibus was left hospitalised after his bus slammed into a pregnant cow along the Rupert Craig Highway last evening.

Yasif Allie was driving his minibus, BKK 9200, along the highway, headed east, when a cow suddenly walked onto the roadway. Allie said he was unable to stop his vehicle and it slammed into the animal, which subsequently succumbed.

The pregnant cow was seen lying on the bus’s smashed up windscreen a few feet away from where it was hit. Allie was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital to be treated. He sustained injuries to his legs and arms. The three other people in the bus were unharmed.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said the driver was too fast when the accident occurred.
