City Hall’s Royston King charged with forgery

City Hall’s Public Relations Officer Royston King was today arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court with a July 13, 2012 charge which alleges that he wrote a letter to the Beacon Foundation and signed same; purporting that he was the Town Clerk Acting, which position he did not hold nor was appointed to act in at the same time.

King, 49, of 3279 Canal Place, South Ruimveldt Park was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of forgery of an official document when it was read to him by city magistrate Judy Latchman.

King was admitted to bail in the sum of $70,000 and will make his next appearance on September 16.

King has been at the centre of a long-running battle with another city official Carol Sooba over who is the substantive Town Clerk.
