No arrests in Blackwater murder

Crime Chief Leslie James said police have not made any arrests for the murder of 20-year-old Nickel Leacock, who was knifed to death in Blackwater Backdam, Region Eight.

Leacock is believed to have been killed on August 18 along a trail in Blackwater Backdam. He died of shock and haemorrhaging. His body was found by a group of Brazilian miners early that morning.

According to his relatives, the young miner was headed into the village to deliver stocks to his father, who was working in the area. When he arrived in the area, he allegedly became involved in an argument with a man. He was found dead the next morning with stab wounds to his back. The man with whom he had the fight was initially held as a suspect in his death.
