Woman found at Kitty shore died of drowning – autopsy

Sharon Forde, the woman who was found dead at the Kitty foreshore, died by drowning, according to the results of a post-mortem examination.

‘A’ Division Commander Senior Superintendent Clifton Hicken confirmed the finding to Stabroek News.

The body of Forde, 45, a mother of five of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was found late Wednesday afternoon after it was spotted by joggers at the shore with waves lashing against it. After police investigators were called, the woman’s nude body was recovered and subsequently taken to the Lyken Funeral Home, where she was identified.

Forde’s son Shadrach told Stabroek News yesterday that his mother suffered from a nerve problem for the past ten years. When asked whether she had problems with anyone or was depressed about anything, the man was unable to state. He was also unable to say whether she could swim.

Forde’s brother, Dan, had earlier told this newspaper that she had been dealing with mental illness ever since the death of her husband. He also said she often wandered aimlessly on the road.
