Man chopped in ambush after argument with ex

A father of two narrowly escaped death on Monday night after he confronted his ex-partner about telling their children that he was dead.

Eion Henry, 34, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after four men, allegedly sent by his ex-girlfriend, attacked him with knives and handguns and chopped him. Earlier that day, Henry had confronted the woman after she told their two children that they no longer had a father because he was dead.

Henry said he became enraged when he heard what his children were told. “I went to her and ask why she telling our children… especially our daughter, that I dead. She already took them and changed their names on their birth certificates. Now, she started telling them I’m dead. That’s overboard,” he said, adding that the woman then started threatening to kill him.

He stated that around 10:30pm, he went to his mother’s house at Craig Street, Campbellville and saw two men standing in the yard. He said the men rushed to him and started to kick him and beat him until his brother jumped in and saved him. “Then they run away and come back a couple minutes later with two more men in a grey 212,” he related.

The men, he said, came out of the car and grabbed him.

He said he managed to escape and they chased him up the street, while firing off shots. “One of them kicked me to the ground and put a gun at my head while another one tried to cut my throat with a knife but I fight back and he chopped me across my face,” Henry said, adding that when the men were finished, he saw his ex-girlfriend with them and they all jumped into the car and drove away.

Henry was chopped nine times about his body.

He received 35 stitches at the hospital before he was discharged. “Right now I’m frighten for my life because these men tried to kill me and I never see them before or we never had any talking,” he said, stating that he was afraid to return to his home.

He has since been forced to stay at a friend’s home. “All the police telling me is that they will find them but these men walk in the station and walk out. They even pass by my house where my family is. I don’t want to settle this matter. I want to go home and I can’t go home until the police lock every one of them up,” he stated.

Henry’s ex-girlfriend was arrested on Tuesday but was later released.
