Hog Island killing still to be solved

Investigations are still ongoing into the Hog Island shooting which claimed the life of a security guard and wounded a labourer.

Approaching four weeks since the shooting claimed the life of Rudolph Persaud, 51, of Hog Island who was pronounced dead at the Suddie Hospital, where his co-worker Roy Williams, 21, of Port Kaituma, North West District, was admitted for treatment, there is still no definitive answer as to who is culpable and what the motive was.

Randy Katwaroo and his wife are still on station bail over the matter while the investigation into the matter continues.

According to eyewitness accounts, Persaud and Williams were imbibing at the front of their boss’s home when gunmen approached them and fired shots after receiving an unfavourable response to an enquiry on their boss’ location.

The couple along with another labourer fled the home after the gunmen left on what the labourer said was a waiting speedboat. The police was subsequently called and the men were taken to the hospital.
